Fantastic

Date:03/19/12
Pros: Natural-looking Color, Gray Coverage
"I have used this since it first came out and love it. I get so many compliments on the color and how natural it looks. Because I am covering total grey I have to use it about every 3 weeks and wish it wouldn't fade quite so fast, but every color I have tried faded quickly, so I just color it more often and it doesn't damage it at all. Please keep the product available. Thank you"

Not What I thought

Date:03/17/12
Pros: Natural-looking Color, Gray Coverage
"I started to get a few gray hairs and wanted some "pop" for summer so I bought this color and I love the color, the only thing is it keeps rinsing out. And at the pace that it is going I will need to re-color my hair every 2 weeks."

Less work, less damaging, great natural color

Date:02/01/12
Pros: Made My Hair Feel Soft, Natural-looking Color, Gray Coverage
"Just tried Perfect10 for the first time. I found it on clearance, and liked the idea of taking less time to color my hair. I'm a mom of 3. I hate that 30 minutes of waiting when inevitably a kid has a problem I have to solve while my hair is covered in dye. I also hate being cold that long. I don't what everybody else wears when they dye their hair, but I've always found wearing no shirt at all is pretty handy. It's unpleasant in winter though. Brrrr.
I have used all sorts of hair color, Garnier, L'oreal, wella etc. I have found really great reds in the Feria and Nutrisse line, but they are quite unnatural. The Nutrisse I tried was an intense red and several dye jobs later I can still see a stripe of unnatural red-red around my hair. I kinda hoped it would fade or blend in, but no that color really lasts. If you want a crazy unnatural red that never fades, go for Garnier.
I'm naturally a graying brunette, but I prefer being a natural-looking redhead. This color looks natural and honestly was way gentler on my hair than a lot of other things I've used. I haven't had a hair dye this gentle since I tried semi-permanents. I expect it to fade, as most reds do, but right now it is a lovely shade of natural light auburn and i am quite pleased with it."

Didn't cover 100% of gray

Date:01/23/12
Pros: Made My Hair Feel Soft
"I really wanted to like this product. After trying a different brand that didn't cover my grays at all, I decided to spend the extra money and try this. It did improve my hair color in general, but did not come close to the color I was expecting, nor did it cover all my gray. I have mostly dark hair, but the spots with gray are concentrated. Now I just look as though I *tried* to color my hair on my own. Very disappointing.
That being said, it was very easy to use and it did leave my hair feeling soft.

Fades fast

Date:11/05/11
Pros: Made My Hair Feel Soft, Tones & Highlights, Natural-looking Color, Gray Coverage
"I am a natural redhead but thanks to grey ( about 10%) I dye my hair. I love most Clairol products and love the ease of Perfect 10 but find that I have to dye my hair at least every 3-3 1/2 weeks due to fading and gray coverage. I just assumed it was because "red fades fast" or at least that is what my hair dresser says but after reading other reviews it may not be my color choice. I would still buy this product and wouldn't switch from Clairol but it would be nice if the permanent color would last longer than 20-25 days. Thankfully, I use a really good moisturizer in addition to what comes with the product (which I love) or my hair would be fried."

Good product

Date:11/03/11
Pros: Made My Hair Feel Soft, Natural-looking Color
"I am a natural blonde and I wanted to try something new so I dyed my hair the light auburn. The results on the top and sides of my hair are an amazing color but the back of my head is a different shade. I covered my whole head evenly and left it in for the 10 minutes but it has dyed my hair unevenly. I am dissapointed that it did not cover evenly and now I have a two-toned head."

While I'm glad that you like the results of some areas of your hair after using Perfect 10, I want to help you get back to an overall even color. I'm not sure why your color result was two- toned. Without speaking with you, it's hard to say. We can help, though! Please call one of our color experts at 1-800-CLAIROL (252-4765) when you have a chance. Hope to hear from you soon!

A wonderful red!

Date:10/31/11
Pros: Natural-looking Color
"After years of having my hair dyed at the salon, I decided to go back to coloring my hair myself. My natural color is a medium, mousy brown and I've been dying it red for about a year. I had roughly 2 inches of roots when I used this product.
This red is perfect! It's not too orange or too purple/magenta. Think Julianne Moore or Isla Fisher red. The results are very close to the box color.
My roots and ends are now the same color, which I find important. I also really liked that the dye did not stain the skin on my face and neck. I'm not too picky about dye consistency or the included conditioner, but the conditioner did make my hair very soft.
Overall, I am super impressed with the results.

"I've been coloring my hair since 1993 with the 6R light auburns, and I love the color... my natural is dark blonde and being a redhead makes me so happy, this is the best 6R ever the other ones made my hair too brassy or it was too dark and it damaged my hair but this is just 100% perfect."

Thanks so much for your feedback regarding Perfect 10 6R Light Auburn. I’m sorry this shade left your hair with unwanted magenta tones but I am glad you shared this experience with us. While I can’t be sure what left your hair with this result, the color and condition of your hair before coloring can affect your final color. We’d love to help you find the right shade for you. Please call us for a 1-on-1 color consultation at 1-800-CLAIROL (1-800-252-4765).

Amazing for natural red heads!

Date:02/27/11
"I am a natural red head and at 25, I noticed that my hair was not as rich as it once had been. It was turning more of a light golden colour, and I wanted to return it to the rich, vibrant red it once was. I had never dyed it before and was really nervous that it would look fake. After reading the reviews I thought I would give it a shot and I am so happy that I did! It looks 100% natural and is the rich red that it once was. It is not a dramatic change at all and I cannot believe how natural it looks. It looks a lot more natural than it does on the box (although it is a tiny bit darker as others have mentioned). I highly recommend this shade for any red head that is seeing their natural hair colour fade!! The colour of my hair is currently in between Julianne Moore and Christina Hendricks--although more natural looking.
P.S. I tested a large chunk on the bottom row of my hair first before I dyed it all-I would recommend doing this just to be on the safe side.

Happy but surprised

Date:02/16/11
"I am happy with the result after using Perfect 10 for the first time, but I am surprised that the color of my hair came out much darker than what was shown on the package. I had natural auburn hair until it started to go white and it is now more than 50% white. When I dye my hair, my results are usually lighter because of that (so I've been told by several hair-dressers). I'm not displeased, because I think it still flatters my fair, freckled skin, but I'm still wondering why I ended up with this result.
I used the "root" method first and then covered all the hair with dye for ten minutes, per the instructions. Did this mean it was left on the hair too long, especially at the roots, since it takes me ten minutes just to do my roots?
Any way, if anyone has any theories, I'd love to hear them. I wondering if I should skip the root step and just put the dye on all the air for ten minutes and if that would produce lighter results."

Loved It!

Date:12/12/10
"I am a natural redhead, but my hair has turned brown with age. I have been wanting to go back to red for quite some time, but was afraid to try it, especially on my own. I have used an at-home highlighting kit a couple of times, but never attempted to do an all-over color. I read the reviews for this product and they were so overwhelmingly positive that I thought "OK, I can do this!" My experience with this product was great! The instructions were clear and easy to follow and the process short and simple. The color is very natural looking and I love it! I will definitely recommend this product to others. Thanks to all the ladies who came before me and took the time to post. Without your input, I probably wouldn't have gotten the courage to do this and now I'm a believer!"

Pretty!

Date:12/03/10
"I tried the other two red shades from Perfect 10, but they didn't really change my dark brown hair much. this one was what I was looking for-a pretty, red shade-not too garish or fake looking. It made my dark brown hair turn into a pretty auburn. I've used it twice now and love it!
It does take longer than 10 minutes-I left it on for 15.

Best so Far. (:

"Well, I've dyed my hair three times, after using feria by browsing, I thought I should check reviews. My hair is now soft and shiny, (I don't have gray hair yet.) and I've received compliments on how natural it looks.
This brand lives up to it's name, I'll be a second time buyer, for sure."

Natural Redheads Listen Up!

Date:11/07/10
"I was born a natural redhead with the fair skin, green eyes and freckles. My hair started to fade to brownish around age 30 and in the 15 or so years since, is mixed with a little gray as well.
For the past 10-15 years I've been getting my hair colored red at a salon to the tune of $80-100 a pop. I was only having it done about 2x a year for that reason and it always grew in gradually without really bad roots so I was pretty content with that frequency.
The thought of coloring my hair at home never occurred to me because I'd always feared some horrible reaction due to my natural red pigments with an at-home coloring kit. I did not want to end up with purple, mauve, green or magenta nor to look like Ronald McDonald LOL!
Tonight I took the plunge and used the 6R Light Auburn Clairol Perfect 10 which is the closest to my natural born shade. My sister combed it through for me because I was a little afraid of not being able to reach it all thoroughly on my own. After 10 minutes, I got in the shower and rinsed it. It rinsed clear quickly and the conditioner rinsed nicely after the two minutes as well.
My hair is as pretty a shade of red as it's ever been in my life and I must say, I am pretty amazed by the results! I half-expected to be on the phone first thing in the morning calling the salon to have it corrected. As I've said, I just did it tonight so I'm not sure how long it will last or if it will remain this vibrant, but I'm thrilled to know I can do it on my own and save a lot of $$ as a result.
If you were born a redhead with a similar story and have been afraid to color your own hair, give this a try! It's not brassy or orange in the least bit, it's very even and has pretty highlights to boot. The last time I had my hair colored at the salon was about 3-4 months ago so there was still some residual color on it and it didn't react badly with the Clairol at all.
Good luck- I don't think you'll be sorry to try it, I know I'm not. It's a Godsend."

Date:10/11/10
"This stuff is perfect! When I used this color, I constantly got compliments on it. A lot of times people were shocked it wasn't my natural color, and then were even more shocked to find that I did it myself at home. The color is shiny, and natural, and even fades out in a natural way (so I wouldn't have to touch-up too often). It doesn't wreck my hair, and since my hair is short I use the conditioner they provide ALL the time. I love this product so much."
